Q. Does Eric’s VIP Tours run multi-day tours?
A. Yes. I have run many multi-day tours where I’ve taken groups from San Francisco to Monterey/Big Sur to Yosemite to Lake Tahoe in 3-4 days. However this requires a bit more logistics, so will need to plan in advance.
Q. Which wineries do we visit on a Napa valley wine tour/Sonoma valley wine tours?
A. My goal is to match you up with wineries that best suit your taste, wine knowledge and budget. Napa trips from San Francisco can be a ton of fun but there are over 250 wineries in Napa and Sonoma and they vary just like every person. During the booking process, I will learn about you and your expectations for your wine country experience. I will provide you with a suggested itinerary and then I will proceed to making appointments. But in short and I'm generalizing, tastings on Napa wine tours tend to be more expensive than on Sonoma wine tours. Expensive does not always mean better. There’s simply more demand for Napa wines.
Q. Is Eric the only guide?
A. No. Most of the time it will be, but if I am unavailable , you'll get the same high quality tour experience with another super professional tour guide.
Q. Can the tour itinerary be altered?
A. Absolutely! The goal of a private tour guide is to be flexible and be able to alter the itinerary to your wishes. The best private tours of San Francisco are the ones that allow the guests to call the shots and create a custom private tours of San Francisco, unless of course you don’t want to and prefer to stick to the script. The best private tour guides, like me, are the ones that will go over the itinerary for the day but will also offer some options like where to lunch; best seafood in Sausalito, or In-and-Out at a hawk Hill overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge, or a famous Mission Burrito at Dolores park.
Q. What should I expect for a Yosemite Day Tour?
A. Day trips from San Francisco to Yosemite are long but worth every mile and minute. At minimal, on a Yosemite private tour you’ll see the Giant Sequoias, numerous stops on the way to and out of the valley, as well as time to explore and hike while in the Valley. On a private tour you’re the only one(s) getting picked up in the morning, as opposed to public tours that require many pick ups, and that translates to more time in the park. Your private tour guide will hike with you to the Giant Sequoias, make extra stops to take in views where big vehicles cannot and if you have the willingness to, your private guide can even take you to hidden gems like Colombia Rock or even Eagles Nest overlooking Yosemite Falls up close. On a private tour, you’ll even get back to San Francisco quicker and have more time in the park allowing you to enjoy the evening in the city.
Q. Are Big Sur tours from San Francisco worth the drive?
A. Just like the day trips to Yosemite from San Francisco, Big Sur tours are worth every mile and minute. While most tours, public or private tours, drive along the PCH/Hwy 1 they don’t venture into the best, most dramatic, scenic, iconic part of Hwy1 that's located just south of Carmel. That stretch of highway has been declared one of the most beautiful drives in the United States by numerous travel publications and that is why I think it’s important to see.
